Scale Confusion

So….I was right, I did weigh “up” today. But it was a very funny day. Let me explain.

I love to weigh through the week/day. I like to see how the body changes through out.  I know, most Leaders will tell you not to do this as it could be discouraging…but in my case it is always encouraging. An ego and mental boost when down; a constant reminder to try harder when up. I almost always weigh immediately after getting up (you know after your morning pee *grin* come on…you do it too!).  Then, I’ll weigh again after my coffee. Then normally again after lifting weights, cardio, and dinner.  It fascinates me. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to the scale sometimes.

Case and point today.  Today I had a date with my little man for a movie at 10. My regular meeting is at 9:30, so obviously I was going to the 12:15 meeting.  Well, I was a little nervous about already being up on my scale, plus the possibility of weighing in after a soda and the mandatory handful (or three) of movie popcorn (no butter of course!). So, I decided to weigh on the way to the movie and then attend the later meeting.

When I got to the later meeting (after a big diet soda and popcorn) i weighed almost a full pound LESS! Um, what?!?!?  Also, I must mention I weighed in jeans today. I was feeling feisty…since I knew I was up, I figured what the heck.  Back to the story….so I weighed LESS later in the day and after eating. Strange. But it gets better.

After meeting I had a 6 inch sub and chips and then headed to the pool. At three when I was getting in the shower I weighed another pound lighter than WI (but I was naked, but still two pounds lighter than my naked home WI in at 8:30 am).

Natural questions, did I potty more before the later WI….NO!!

So, all that TMI to say….the scale is wacky. All I know is I didn’t have my best week, but by the end of today, it dawned on me that it still wasn’t a bad week.  Home scale up .5 from last week…WW scale up….well, darn, I’ll have to go to the car and get my card.

Moral of the story….don’t let the scale determine your actions.  You could just be weighing at the wrong time of day.

Oh and for pete sake, don’t be like me last year and not eat something until after you weigh….CLEARLY eating helps me lose on the scale.

I’ll be blogging on exercise soon. :) Always fun since the husband is a former trainer.
